-Carnevale di Venezia-

Odd.

Your heart was thumping so fast you could swear it was going out of your chest. Sure you've travelled before but there was this weird feel now that you're headed to Italy with your good friend, [bf/n]. You held on to your favorite plushie and pulled your baggage as you were about to board the plane. 'What's wrong with you _______!? You're just going to Italy…. DAMN GIRL. YOU'RE GOING TO ITALY' you squealed inside, failing to calm down your raging adrenaline.

All is set and you and your friend leisurely sat in the first class cabin. Your friend kept glancing at you with a goofy grin, trying to hold in her squeals at the fact that you were in the first class cabin.

"I know what's in your mind you idiot…. I'm dying inside of fangirling here." you murmured in a cute irritated tone as you buried your head behind your stuffed toy just like those tsundere anime characters in your favorite shows.

"Kyaaaa! I can't believe we're actually here! Wait until we're in Italy! I bet you can't hold that squeal of yours!" she snickered as she pulled away from you and placed her own seat belt.

Soon enough you were fast asleep and all you dreamed about the entire trip was some strange guy with dark colored hair in a tomato farm. Surely that's odd since you're not really a fan of tomatoes. 'And who the hell was that guy!?'

"Wake up sunshine~ we're in Italy!" greeted a soft voice coming from your right side.
"….what…. the hell are we doing in heaven?" you asked, still dazed from your sleep that everything looked all bright and fluffy.

"Silly sorella!" your friend laughed as she hit you with your own stuffed toy "We're in I-T-A-L-Y… but I guess you can call it heaven too" she winked, pulling you up from your comfy seat.

A bright blinding light greeted you as you walked down the steps of the plane. You really felt like you were going to heaven or something. Soon enough the light finally faded into a soft blur and exposed the two young masked Italians waiting at the near end of the steps.

"Buongiorno belle signore!" greeted the one with a carved golden mask hugged with white laces and feathers on the rims that's held neatly in place by a crystal butterfly. He wore a fancy Cavalier Hat that sits neatly in place above his light orange-brown hair and a cute little curl hanging from the left side of his head. His black coat is fully detailed with curling laces and trimmings with the mixed color of  dark gold and silver that reached just above his knees that met with his boots . A fluffy white lace tie perfectly hugged his neck which had a sparkling violet gem hold it in place.

"Feli!" your friend squeaked as she ran to the Italian, pushing you aside and causing you to almost fall out of balance. "WATCH IT JULIET!" you ranted "Romeo's not going anywhere, sheesh."

"Veh~ I'm sorry _____! [bf/n] can~a get a little too excited" the Italian apologized after their somewhat death trap hug.

You managed to regain your balance as pulled yourself up by holding on to the railings as support. To your surprise a gloved hand was directed towards you. "You're~ a little clumsy aren't you? Here."

You blushed hard as you took a moment to analyze the young man in front of you. He was wearing a gold mask with intricate carved designs studded with a few circular diamonds with matching black laces and feathers that clumped to the left that was in perfect symmetry with the curl on the right side of his head. He was also wearing a similar coat to the man with a white and gold mask but his had red, black and gold laces that hugged the rims of his clothing. He wore dark red inner clothing together with a maroon corset that had gold trimmings on the sides which ended just above his black slacks that connected to his black lace boots.

"Well~ are you going to take~a my hand or are we going to stare at each~a other forever?" he said in a rather irritated tone which made his Italian accent more prominent.

"I-I'm sorry… you're Lovino Vargas, right?" you asked in a rather meek tone as you took his hand

"That's~a right. Don't~ a wear it out." He answered, still avoiding eye contact while he led you down the steps.

'Sheesh. What a grumpy old man.' You thought to yourself as you pouted in annoyance. As far as you're concerned, you didn't do anything wrong to him…. Not to mention the fact that you just met the person!

However you couldn't help but notice the way he brought you down the steps. His face was so stiff and annoyed like he didn't want to be with you in the first place… but the way he held your hand, it was so gentle that it's like he was holding a precious porcelain doll that he feared might break if his grip tightened.

A light color of pink tinted your cheeks as this thought came into mind. For some reason, you couldn't get mad at him for being so rude during the first meeting. 'That's odd… usually I'd go off and scold people like him…' you thought.

"Feli! What's with the both of you? It's like you're going to perform in a theater!" you friend chuckled

"Bella~! Don't~a tell me you've forgotten what~a day it is" Feliciano replied with a small frown replacing his once huge grin.

"It's~a the Carnevale di Venezia." Lovino answered just after your foot touched the ground

'That explains the strange attire…' you thought to yourself. Of course it's strange to have two men dressed like the characters from an old play to pick you up from the airport but this didn't hide the fact that they looked really gorgeous in those intricately designed costumes.

Your friend face palmed herself for forgetting what date it was today. "My goodness! I forgot! Sorry Feli…" she mumbled in apology as she hugged the Italian once more.

"Well~ that's~a problem… You couldn't~a go to the festival like~a that" Lovino huffed as he crossed his arms. "as~a if I would allow that." He continued.

"I brought a cocktail dress though! I was planning to wear it on our date! I guess that should cover it… but…" your friend trailed off as she glanced back at you. She really felt bad for having to forget that there's a big celebration in Italy and now you're stuck with just having your casual clothes… or so they thought.

"Well I'm sorry for not having a boyfriend to have a date with~" you chuckled "don't you worry your sorry little face [bf/n], I brought my white puffy cocktail dress just to be sure. Mother dearest insisted that I bring that huge thing."

A glint of sparkle twinkled in your friend's eyes as she smiled and sighed in relief. The two of you, together with the well-dressed Italians, went to pick up your baggage and placed it inside… 'OH MY HOLY…' the brothers' Ferrari.

"Come bella~ you know what color is~a mine" Feliciano said in a singing tone as he tugged your friend towards the red colored Ferrari while you were pulled to the yellow one.

Silence pierced through between you and Lovino as the two cars screeched through the streets moving in the speed of light. You mentally prayed for your survival as you held on tightly to your seatbelt. 'Oh please dear Lord in the greatest heavens above… I WANNA LIVE. I JUST GOT HERE!' you screamed deep inside, hoping that the heavens will hear you out.

Little did you know that the Italian beside you was trying to hold in his laughter at the show of your fear. He did feel sorry for you so he decided to slow down a bit and tap your shoulder "Not~a quite used to speeding cars are you?"

You turned to look at him with your teary eyes and nodded. Goodness, you looked like a lost kid whose been looking for his/her parents for a good 20 minutes.

Lovino chuckled and said some Italian sentence "ragazza carina... ma strano"

You simply shrugged and tried to translate some of the Italian words yourself 'man… I have to learn Italian… the only thing I understood was Ragazza/girl. Well that's helpful.' You said to yourself in a sarcastic tone.

You finally arrived at the Vargas brothers' home and boy did it look amazing. Lovino must have been kidding when he said that they had a house. It wasn't even worthy to be called a house. The Vargas household looked so much like a mansion modeled after the Italian architecture during the renaissance mixed in with some modern styles of Italy. The gates were of a solid black color with intricately done ironwork of a winged lion. An elegantly done landscape had surrounded most of the front portion of the manor, with several flowers blooming from the call of spring. Trees gently swayed with the gentle wind blowing in and only generated a more peaceful aura in the Vargas household.

The mansion was three storeys tall. Columns rose from the sides of the house which gave it a more regal appearance. The bricks were of a beige color and were decked with slightly unkempt vines. On the front door, two daisies were beautifully carved in the double doors of the household.

"Wow… nice place you have here…" you mumbled as you glanced one more look at the house.

"You got~a to move faster if you're~a going to the festival" Lovino complained as he waited for you to move away from his direction, carrying with him your luggage and a completely annoyed expression plastered on his face.

You squeaked and quickly apologized as you moved further inside the house and opened the door for him. "You could have said excuse me you know…" you mumbled as you pulled your own luggage. "Whatever~" he quickly shot at you as he passed by. 'He's so mean to me!'

Upon entering, it had only struck you more that the entrance foyer looked like it dated back to the Victorian period. The walls were plastered with light colors, while the doorways were decorated with pediments over them. The ceilings were wrought with a chandelier that shone and sparkled over you. The stairs were covered with a light green and red carpet that extended all the way to the middle of the stairs. Black leather couches were placed beside a wooden bookcase at the far side end of the room. But what struck you most upon entering was a huge portrait of Feliciano and Lovino dressed in white robes and red scarves that could be seen at the landing.

'just… WOW.'

As soon as you and your friend got your things inside… "BELLAAAAA! Hurry and~a get your cocktail dress! We still have to get you and your~a friend some masks!" Feliciano said hurriedly as he shoved his elder brother Lovino outside the room.  *cough* more like a ballroom.

Surely enough, you got pushed into the bathroom and your friend started pulling out both of your clothes in the luggage like there's a fire alarm going on. "Ack! Stop doing that! It's raining clothes in here!" you ranted as you got more clothes piled up to your head

"Sorry honey! No time to breathe here!" she excitedly exclaimed as she pulled out your fluffy white cocktail dress that was studded with flower-shaped silver buttons and circular diamond gems on top. With a blink of an eye, the both of you already got dressed… of course with the minor setback of having to tie your corset styled cocktail dress.

"You look perfect! Now come on!" she squeaked as she pulled her black shawl that matched with her purple knee length cocktail dress that had a black translucent silk hanging over it. That dress hugged her body figure beautifully.

The two Italian brothers waited downstairs and as soon as the both of you went down, the two quickly stood up to escort you to the front door. Of course, Feliciano didn't fail to make your friend blush with all the beautiful compliments he threw at her at the same time. 'Italians… they're really good with women… except this one.' You said to yourself as you took the hand that Lovino offered. He was still avoiding eye contact but your eyes didn't fail to notice the steaming blush that's trying to hide under his red mask. 'such a cutie… but still a grump.'

After a 5 minute drive, your friend quickly pulled you out of Lovino's car and dragged you to one of the shops that had Feliciano waiting inside. Turns out Feliciano was helping the owner make masks for the Carnevale di Venezia and he had the perfect masks that will fit you and your friend's attire.

"Y-You made these!?" you gasped in awe as you stared at the two amazing masks laying on the glass. Your friend's mask had different shades of purple that was intricately carved in the same manner as Feliciano's. It had circular glass beads surrounding it together with a few black feathers and glitters. Yours was a white and blue mask that had an elegant lace to hug the rims of the sides. A lone white rose stuck neatly in place on the right side with several ostrich feathers and glass beads and diamonds hanging in the end.

"Wow~ the both of you look lovely~" Feliciano cheered as he gave the both of you a hug

"Thanks Feli! Uhm… you don't mind me calling you Feli… right?" you asked

"Of~a course not! Call me anything you want~" he replied with a childish grin

"WILL ALL OF YOU JUST~A GET THIS OVER WITH AND-" Lovino screamed as he forced open the glass door but for some reason he got cut from his sentence as a dark tint of red spread over his face

"You were saying, Lovino?" your friend snickered

"J-just… just get the hell out" Lovino stuttered as he turned away and went towards the crowd

"Let's~a go ladies~"

Soon enough you were greeted by the bright sun that sparkled together with the glitters and confetti that scattered all over the street. There was a loud and festive music that rang in chorus with the loud cheers and hoots of the crowd when the two brothers finally showed up. Everyone were dancing and having the time of their lives as they all clumped in the middle of the plaza. As soon as Feliciano and Lovino were near the crowd, they got pulled inside what looked like a human black hole and was forced to the middle.

"Well? What are you waiting for?" you friend asked, getting ready to squirm inside the crowded plaza

"No. No way am I going inside that human death trap" you huffed as you crossed your arms

"Your loss sorella! See you later!" and with that, your friend was gone.

A tinge of loneliness hit you as you watched everyone party hard. You wanted to see how the brothers were doing inside that… well… black hole of party people so you decided to climb up the pillar beside the steps of what looks like a city hall. It wasn't that hard for you to climb up even if you were wearing high heels and a cocktail dress… you had to see what's going on.

"Ah… there they are" you sighed in relief as you sat comfortably on the edge of the foot of a huge pillar. You saw how Feliciano enjoyed himself together with his girlfriend in the middle of everyone else, Lovino had a few dances with some girls but it seems he's a bit uncomfortable.

"That costume really fits him…" you mindlessly uttered as the soft wind ruffled through your wavy hair. 'What the hell am I thinking… guys like him will never like a girl like me….' You said to yourself as you shifted your attention to the wide span of Italian skies. You breathed in the soft breeze and let the moment drown you…

Little did you know that Lovino was actually looking for you and when he did, a wave of heat dominated his face as he saw your fragile figure sitting along the edge of a pillar having the soft wind blow away your hair carelessly.

"Stupid ragazza… what are you doing all the way up there?"

….when you can be down here with me.
Ultimate nosebleed for the description part!
It was really hard to describe the costumes
not to mention their extravagant mansion!

I wanted a masquerade ball for the first part
So I went online to research if Italy had anything related to that
Apparently I had to choose between...
the Chocolate Festival and Carnevale di Venezia

I was surprised when the exact setting I wanted was there!
So I took the chance and researched more about it.
I really had a fun time writing this...

I APOLOGIZE IF IT'S LONG. =)))))))))))

I have to thank :iconstellaclaire:
she was the one who described the mansion :)
